We are a small family business by choice- with an unparalleled reach in the Greater Chicagoland market. As we passed our 30th Anniversary of publishing and broadcasting, there are three milestones that we are especially proud of:

  • The Outdoor Notebook is Greater Chicagoland’s longest running weekly outdoors column, published continuously since 1976, now in the Joliet Herald-News and the Aurora Beacon, Elgin Courier, Lake County News-Sun, often included in other “Sun-Times owned” dailies serving suburban Chicagoland, in the 13 editions of the SUN Publications, in the south and southwest suburban regions covered by the 23 editions of the SouthtownStar newspapers and various other independent newspapers serving Greater Chicagoland.
  • The Outdoor Notebook Radio Show is also this market’s longest running weekly outdoors radio program, celebrating our 29th season of continuous broadcasting on WJOL 1340-AM, Joliet, IL, 6:05-7:00 am Saturdays and our Television Show aired in the Chicagoland market for more than a decade on broadcast TV, as well as on ComCast and the Fox Valley Cable (TV-17, Aurora through the Illinois River valley, north through DeKalb into the tier of counties along the IL/WIS border). The Outdoor Notebook Radio Show is live-streamed on then click on the icon for show now airing. Select and recent radio shows are also archived on this web site.
  • The Outdoor Notebook Magazine is in its 30th year as “Greater Chicagoland’s Most Widely-Read Regional Outdoors Monthly!”- with an unmatched ACTUAL MONTHLY COPY DISTRIBUTION of as high as 50,000 copies!
  • Our unique editorial policy is to focus on a “Weekend’s Radius” of Greater Chicagoland, featuring the best hands-on writers in this market. Our success has been our advertisers’ success. That was the principal on which we founded the Outdoor Notebook Magazine in 1980. Very simply, when we work with you to reach our readers, our television and radio audience and you succeed and grow, so will we.
